On January 31, 2024, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced in the Federal Register a revision of fees for immigration applications, to be implemented starting April 1, 2024. According to the agency, this adjustment in fees aims to cover a larger portion of its operational expenses and enhance the efficiency of processing immigration filings. USCIS indicated that the fees for immigration filings had largely remained unchanged since 2016, despite rising operational expenses.
Filing fees for EB-5 petitions will see some of the most significant increases under the new rule. Fees for Form I-526/E, the initial EB-5 petition form, will be raised to $11,160, from $3,675 – a 204% increase. Fees for Form I-829 will be raised to $9,525, from $3,835 – a 148% increase.
